Transparent Façade and Urban Nature
The project is located in the heart of Gan Meir, within the unusual urban condition of a landlocked site with no conventional street frontage. The architectural response addresses this constraint through a fully transparent northern façade that blurs the boundary between interior and exterior, drawing the surrounding greenery deep into the building. The ground floor is recessed to create a covered and shaded transitional space between the public garden and the building. Structurally, the project is supported by a complex steel system of long-span trusses, enabling generous column-free spaces while preserving the mature trees surrounding the site. This structural approach also contributes to the building’s overall sense of lightness and openness.
A Versatile Program and User Experience
The interior is designed to support multi-generational and community use through a vertically organized program. The ground floor functions as an internal street, incorporating a café and an open lobby that are accessible to the public. Above, a 190-seat auditorium is suspended within the building, maintaining a direct visual connection with the surrounding treetops. The upper floors accommodate a diverse mix of uses, including dance and art studios, a dedicated senior club, a dedicated space for toddlers, and therapeutic clinics. A spacious third-floor roof terrace serves as a venue for cultural events and community gatherings, overlooking the park. The architecture functions as a framework for community life, enabling people of different ages to engage with culture and leisure in a setting defined by transparency, openness, and a strong connection to the city.
