The project is located in Ness Ziona, on a 3,650-square-meter open site that previously served as a public garden at the heart of a residential neighborhood. The redesign was initiated following the events of October 7 and the subsequent Iron Swords War, with the aim of transforming the site into a meaningful place of remembrance while preserving its role as an active part of community life. The central challenge was to create a space that balances memory and mourning with the continuity of everyday life. At the heart of the garden, a memorial takes the form of a spiraling path, creating a gradual and personal experience of remembrance. Naturally weathered Corten steel walls guide visitors inward toward an intimate seating area arranged around a single tree. A small amphitheater adjacent to the memorial provides a setting for ceremonies and community gatherings. Throughout the garden, intimate seating areas conceived as "Memory Buds" are each dedicated to one of those who lost their lives. Pergolas and climbing vegetation create shaded areas for quiet reflection within the open landscape. Alongside the memorial spaces, play elements for young children, made from natural materials, help preserve the garden as a vibrant and active part of neighborhood life. The result is a public space that is quiet yet alive, where remembrance is woven into everyday life and exists alongside the continuity of the community.
